Since 1898, Macnamara-Dilar Ltd is the oldest leather cleaning and leather refinishing specialist in Canada. Our skill and knowledge has been passed down through 4 generations. With over 100 years of experience in the industry we have mastered the art of leather refinishing. In our past we were the only leather cleaning and leather refinishing specialist to offer a (1 day) service which today is still unheard of.
In order to offer the finest in leather cleaning and leather refinishing, evaluation of the leather is crucial. First, we determine the grade and finish of the leather and choose an appropriate method of cleaning depending on the soil and stains. Depending on the amount of wear in the original finish we usually recommend refinishing for those who want their furniture to look like new again.
Leather colour changing is a very popular service to suit customer's needs that have high quality leather furniture. Although the furniture's comfort and build quality is superior, the colour simply does not match in with modern styles of today. Worry no more - we can refinish the leather to the colour that best suits your home.
Through a special process called "antiquing", we can make your cherished antiqued leather look like the day you purchased it. We can even stop it from wearing or further distressing. Ask us for details. An antiqued piece of leather furniture gives the appearance of an old sofa but with the benefit of being a brand new piece.
Generally, the older the leather furniture the better the quality it is. The structures and springs are far superior to the quality of today. The leather was most likely properly tanned for years of use in Canada, Italy or Germany. Many older pieces that are faded and tired can be successfully cleaned and refinished to new condition that will last for another 15 to 20 years.
