In The Garden is owned and operated by Jo Lester, and located in Chilliwack, BC. Most of my life has been spent in the agricultural industry starting with a family owned turf farm, and then later, working with Brian Minter at Minter Country Gardens. My years in the perennial and nursery departments allowed me to develop my plant knowledge and become familiar with all aspects of plant care and identification.
Brian taught me so much about the use of foliar color and shape in the garden and the need for twelve months of interest. I firmly believes a person should be able to walk through their yard, sit in there picture window, or out on their patio and always love what they see.

Services
Often our gardens look wonderful in the spring, but by late summer all the color is gone and you are left with a sea of green. We provide an onsite consultation service to give you plant ideas that will update and complement your existing garden. Whether it is moving existing plants around, adding new plants to the garden, or a combination of both, this is the service that best suits the do-it-yourself gardener.

Jo is an exceptional landscape designer and her crew is top notch. She asked all the right questions, listened to my needs, and provided me with exactly the kind of garden I was looking for. I have had countless compliments from friends and neighbors. My front yard sets a very high standard on our street. In addition, Jo has responded to all my subsequent questions about caring for the various plants in my garden, and following her advice I achieved spectacular results. Top notch all the way, I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending In the Garden.

Jo's artistic eye for bringing in an interesting combination of plants and trees to compliment each other, that also fall into our easy to maintain need, has left me in love with my garden. It truly pains me that I now have to update my original review of In the Garden from last year. When my family first started with In The Garden we were very happy with the service provided however this past year the service has suffered considerably with invoices being late, edging digging into the lawn, fruit trees not being sprayed ,or the spray not being effective , (have had diseased apples for 2 years) and was just dropped without notice as the owner "didn't like my attitude from her perception". I should note that during this past year I have been quiet about the decline as I knew there were

Be careful with the owner of this business. She is known as Jo Lester.
She can talk (and I do mean talk) a good game about what she can do for your landscaping needs.
Should you use her services you will not be pleased with her plant selection, grouping and lifespan of the product she selected for your site.

Originally we used a landscape architect to design and plant our gardens. After two years, we were incredibly unhappy with the result. We were referred to Jo at In The Garden. She spent a lot of time understanding what we wanted. The end result of her plant choices and design have resulted in a garden we love year after year. Jo and her crew also maintain the gardens.
