In the province of Ontario, you are required to get an arborist report before adding, injuring or removing a tree from your property. The report will indicate the species, estimated age, health, rarity and size of the tree. The report is submitted to the municipality's forestry office, which will evaluate the report and determine if the tree can be rescued, or if it should be removed.
