Door Store
The Door Store was established in 1972, when owner Sam Mirshak was a student of Architecture at the University of Toronto. Witnessing scores of crude renovations and thoughtless demolitions in Toronto's charming Annex neighbourhood prompted Sam to open a small store on Queen Street selling the salvaged architectural fragments that were otherwise headed for the dump.

Since then, The Door Store has had several homes and has grown to become one of Toronto's best-loved stores. Currently housed in an 11,000 square foot showroom, The Door Store is a family business owned and operated by father-daughter team Sam & Leila Mirshak. We pride ourselves in being an invaluable resource to design professionals and homeowners alike, and in providing exceptional quality, service and expertise to our clients.

Our registers are measured by duct opening size, not overall size, and they have about a 1 lip around all sides. So a 4"x10" register will measure about 6"x12" overall. Whenever possible, it is best to shop for registers before laying new flooring or having existing flooring refinished so that you can be a little flexible for size.
Castlefield is two lights north of Eglinton Avenue West and we're west of Dufferin Street, just before Ronald Avenue. From 401 Eastbound Take Dufferin exit south to Castlefield Avenue, turn right and continue two blocks. From 401 Westbound Take Allen Road exit south to Lawrence Avenue. Continue west on Lawrence to Dufferin then south on Dufferin to Castlefield Avenue, turn right and continue two blocks.

Very helpful staff. The doorknob on our very old door was not working and a locksmith told us we would have to get a new door, or replace the lock with a newer one and a metal plate. The Door Store staff told us it would likely work if we changed the doorknob, and sold us one, which worked.

The Door Store team are incredible! The locking mechanism on our old front door broke. They repaired it and polished the bronze and brass features within a few hours. It looks absolutely gorgeous. Thank you, Ben and Leila.

The people at the Door Store were fantastic. So kind and helpful. They explained carefully to me how to dismantle my entry door set and made the repairs for me while I waited. In all, I made three visits to the Door Store and they were unfailingly kind and helpful. Truly decent people.

I love this place. Been numerous times. Every time, exceptional customer service. And they have a section where toddlers can hang out! They don't pressure you to buy, they are just so incredibly kind and helpful. Just a week ago, I came in because I had been sold doorknobs over at Ginger's that were the wrong size and they had refused to return them (Ginger's is terrible, stay away) and the door store took all the doorknobs and shortened them and actually fixed them and I had to insist to pay them. FANTASTIC people, I will absolutely come back.

My husband said the Door Store really helped today, looking for a new (old) door handle with unusual dimensions. We found it here and the service was excellent

Absolutely amazing collection of hardware, unique pieces and antiques of all ages and sizes.
However, pricing is beyond obscene...
Hardware that should cost no more than $5 is priced at $30. What would you pay for a cast iron hook? Just one. The kind you hang your coat on. With a spray painted black finish. $2? Maybe $3? Nope. $20. STARTING AT. Just obscene.
But if you're willing to bend over, they'll definitely have what you're looking for.

Great store, more importantly fantastic service. I was looking for a tiny part for my staircase. Sam worked with me as if I was buying one of his most expensive pieces.
Will be back! thank you J.

I am not knowledgeable enough about antiques to be able to explain or express how perfect this store is. But I will 100% back up everything "A K." posted on 2/10/2011. I wish I knew this store existed 30 years ago but now will be going back as many times possible. It's not just their inventory but how everything is displayed. The space is full and yet spacious. Everything is easy to look at and beautifully decorated/ merchandised. I had been corresponding via email with Dan previous to visiting and was lucky enough to meet him in person to complete my order/ purchase and he was so

Definitely, the go to store for old door supplies. Alex was able to review the pictures I e-mailed to find the exact same old mortise lock we needed and had it shipped. Slid into existing door no problem and works like a charm.

The owner is Egyptian and brings back beautiful old doors from the middle east to sell here. There are also tons of fun antiques. Not at all what I was expecting when our kitchen designer sent us here!

This place is fantastic. I’ve been researching and planning on buying new doors and using antique hinges and hardware for a restoration project and these guys have the odd parts.
I literally spent hours in a few trips here getting educated on door hardware. I’ve spoken with 4 different guys here and everyone gave me their full divided attention and educated me about everything I needed for my restoration project. Overall I give the staff here 6 stars and 3 thumbs up 👍

Great place for "antique" doors, door hardware, and the odd bit of lighting. Many of the doors require aesthetic restoration, but they seem to be quite solid and usable. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. Not for those living on a budget.

This place rocks.

You will not find cool hardware like this at any of the big box or big chain stores.

A little out of the way if you don't drive, but definitely worth checking out for hardware, lights, doors and other fixtures.

This place has an immense inventory of architectural antiques and is an addictive pleasure to visit. Huge, glorious Victorian and Edwardian leaded glass windows, richly patina'd door and window hardware, whole oriel windows, it goes on and on.... walk inside at noon and discover a moment later that is five pm and you've missed lunch and never noticed.

The staff is helpful, knowledgeable, patient, and kind. I have purchased an entire house worth on hinges and door handles here -- old things impossible to find but miraculously they were here.
