Community Garden Builders is a Vancouver-based social enterprise with a mission to transform vacant property into temporary community gardens and growing spaces. Our projects represent a unique partnership between landowners and community members, providing much needed garden space for the community as well as interim property management for landowners.
Using mobile garden beds set atop shipping pallets, we create accessible urban spaces for local community members to grow their own food and flowers. Projects are temporary and have a lifetime of 1-5 years, and we see them through each step of the way: consultation, design, build, installation, community engagement, garden management and eventual garden removal.
Community Garden Builders is continually learning what it means to be a good neighbour and how to create accessible, safe spaces for everyone. We acknowledge that community garden spaces are not inherently inclusive without intentional and purposeful actions. Our raised garden beds are made with B.C. Western Red Cedar, cornered with a custom powder-coated (black) hinge bracket and secured with powder-coated (black) durable wood screws.

At Community Garden Builders we construct and install temporary community gardens, maintain these private properties year-round, manage and communicate with our gardeners and remove the beds at the conclusion of the project. Turn-key property managers for private landowners. Year-round property management and maintenance including: boulevard maintenance, grass cutting, leaf removal, snow-clearing and more.
Community Garden Builders acknowledge that we live, work, and play on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the xmthkym (Musqueam), skwxwu7mesh (Squamish), selilwitulh (Tsleil Waututh), and Coast Salish peoples. Community Garden Builders seeks to work in solidarity with Indigenous growers and makers, while respectfully acknowledging them as the traditional custodians of these lands.

Fall has officially arrived at the garden--pumpkin spice season, replete with torrential rain. Harvest is waning and we're just about ready to put the garden to rest for the winter season. Put on something cozy and come on down to the garden one last time to clean out your beds. We will be shutting off the water in the garden sometime in late October just before the frosts begin.
