Patkau Architects
We are an architecture and design research studio based in Vancouver, Canada. The practice was founded in 1978 by Patricia and John Patkau. We deliver a wide variety of project types, ranging in scale from art installations, to custom homes and major urban buildings. Over the years, the office has been recognized with numerous awards for excellence in design.

A collection of our architectural research, Material Operations, is now available on Princeton Architectural Press. John Patkau founded Patkau Architects with Patricia in 1978. He is licensed in a number of jurisdictions in both Canada and the United States. He holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Manitoba.

Patricia Patkau has shared design direction in Patkau Architects with John since the firm's founding in 1978. She holds a Master of Architecture degree from Yale University. In addition to practise, she is a Professor Emerita in the School of Architecture at the University of British Columbia where she taught for over 20 years.
