Founded in 1985 as a subsidiary of Peterborough Carpet Land, Whelan's Flooring Centre has grown to become the premier retail flooring store in Peterborough and the Kawarthas. I went in looking for backsplash tile. I hadn’t realized it was by appointment only due to COVID, but they were kind enough to let me have a look and one of their salespeople helped me. I found a tile I liked, so took a photo and a sample home. I emailed a week later to confirm they had the tile in stock because I had decided I wanted it, and questions about installation. I never heard back so a week later I called. I was asked who had helped me the day I had been in, we eventually figured it out as I had missed the name. She said she would have the salesperson call me back for the order. I never

Over $1330 worth of flooring ordered and did not arrive as stated. We had to call them to trace ... they advised it was stuck in the shipping container backlog. Refund given. Promised to send pics of similar flooring ... never arrived. Went to another store ... original flooring available by land from New Jersey within 2 weeks ... and at $1.00 less a tile!

Our experience with Whelans was awful. We dealt with them on an insurance claim and we were important to them until they secured our business and were then neglected completely. We were treated as an insurance cheque rather than customers.
Our phone calls were not returned; our installer only brought a portion of our floor with the rest to follow a week and a half later, with no notice given. We were assured the rest would be delivered on a given day, which came and went with no word only to be told when we called the truck was out of service and we had to pick up the order ourselves.

I just purchased LVT's for my kitchen from Whelan's, which I had them install. I did have some initial problem with a grout haze remaining on the tiles, which I could not get off. I went and talked with Braden Clark who sold me the tiles. He said not to worry, it wasn't my responsibility to clean that off, and they would make sure that they fixed the problem to my satisfaction.
The man who did the original install came back with a special cleaner, and made sure everything cleaned up perfectly before he left. He was very professional.

I'm about half a year late writing this, but we couldn't be happier with our flooring from Whelan's. Not only was Brad great in helping us choose a hardwood option that would run the expanse of our entire main floor (within our budget), but we managed to get our renovation completed in a timely fashion so we could move into our new house (the guys at Floorwerx were professional and did a fantastic job covering 1500 square feet of flooring with care). Thanks Jimmy and Brad, we are so happy with how it turned out.

We had a bad start with Whelan's due to a poor salesperson, but they made it right in the end. Brad Whelan was very good to deal with and the results are fantastic. We had an excellent installer who worked very hard and did a great job. Their prices were very competitive and the Twelve Oaks flooring seems like a quality product.
