Our owner, Kris Otto, began working in the HVAC industry in 1999. During his apprenticeship, Kris gained experience in industrial, commercial and residential HVAC, including residential furnace replacements, AC installs and service work. Kris saw a need in the industry for a company focused on quality workmanship and great customer service.
This well rounded work experience gave him the knowledge needed to branch off on his own. Kris and his wife Journie incorporated Otto Heating & Cooling Ltd in March of 2007. They hit the ground running the following June. The company was initially working out of the garage and one bedroom in their home.
The installations for our clients were done by just Kris for the first year of business out of his 2006 GMC van. The biggest turning point for Otto Heating & Cooling Ltd was in the fall of 2012. At this time, we were awarded multifamily community contracts from two separate residential builders as well as two large commercial contracts.

We had just brought home our newborn son and it occurred to my wife and I that the house was not warming. The temperature was dropping rapidly and we were concerned about keeping him warm. I made a phone call to the service desk and expressed our worries and they took note and literally within an hour we had a service man at our home.

Everyone I interacted with was incredibly prompt in their responses and very knowledgeable and professional. There was no attempt to up-sell unnecessary services or items and the pricing I was given was leaps and bounds better than any quotes I received from other HVAC companies. Our furnace was making an intermittent squealing sound, and then the burning smell started... Otto to the rescue! Kyle came the same afternoon, quickly diagnosed the problem (a seized motor) and fixed it promptly. Would recommend this company 100% - everything from the friendly phone reception (Brianna) to the clean professional technician and reasonable bill. Thank you all for keeping us cozy through another Edmonton winter.

Over the past three days, Atco has come and got my furnace running, but once the furnace reached the temperature setting on the thermostat, it shut down and would not restart. This week has been the coldest one we've had so far this winter, so waking up every morning to a cold house with no heat generating has been an unpleasant experience. While I did get prompt service from Atco, they recommended that we have a furnace service company come and take a look at it.

Fantastic customer service! After a panicked message from me, they called to walk me through troubleshooting a broken furnace during a -25 cold snap.
Then they helped me order the part for an older furnace on a Friday evening, sent their technician, and were thoroughly wonderful to work with! Highly recommend!

Our furnace died on a cold Saturday in December. ☹️ We weren’t sure if we’d be looking at a replacement or not because it is 23 years old. Matt promptly came to the rescue and fixed the issue. He clearly explained the situation and our options and didn’t try to upsell us. He was super informative, polite, professional and we couldn’t be happier. Recommended 100%.

I highly recommend Otto Heating and Cooling Limited. They recently replaced my furnace, hot water heater and added AC. There was a bit of a glitch, but this friendly bunch of flexible individuals took it in stride and completed everything in a timely manner with a fantastic attitude. Oh man it feels so cool in the house now, very relaxing and sleep is much better. The guys were fantastic and a great job, very personable and friendly the whole time. They cleaned very well, you would not know they were ever here. The Electrician’s were awesome, they had no probs with wiring. 5 star rating….

Our unit quit working on the hottest long weekend of the year. I called first thing Tuesday morning , thinking we’d have to wait a few days . They could fit us in by 10:30 Jesse S arrived, the nicest young man, he even petted our dogs. He went straight to work and cleaned the unit and put in A new filter. He explained everything to us and the importance of changing the filter. We were so impressed with the service, an awesome experience. Thanks Jesse for taking care of us
